There are many different types of characters found in your team. Every team member plays a part in achieving project success. As a project manager, you need to understand what kind of team members’ character is in your team. I had broadly list various characters into the groups below.
Group 1 – Routine
Members in this group, they know the proven method works, and they will follow the method faithfully. They are uncomfortable if there is a slight change in the process. They don’t normally welcome changes.
This kind of team member is good to have in your team if there is a new assignment. They will follow the approved methods to accomplish the task.
Even if they cannot fulfill the task, they will feedback and inform you their challenges. Because you know he will follow the rules, to finish the task.
Question is they are too faithful to the existing process; they are not willing to open up their mind to accept new changes, improvements.
Group 2 – Dare to change
This group is innovative and dare to try new things. Most times they make process better. These team members are tired of the routine stale process or methods. They are willing to find ways to improve the current process/ system.
Group 3 – Sabotage
Some team members are there to sabotage the whole situation. They do innovate, however they had gone to the other route. Instead of contributing to the team, they decrement the team from moving forward.
They don’t follow the approved rules and regulations. They tend to take short cut in every task.
